Venaria Reale
|
Venaria Reale is the town risen around to one of the most beautiful and famous residences of the Savoy family, the Reggia (royal palace) of Venaria Reale.
Probably the greatest residence of the Savoy family, it has a structure that looks like the one of the Palace of Versailles; the Reggia of Venaria was planned and built in few years (1658 - 1679), for wanting of the duke Carl Emmanuel II, that needed a house to rest when he came back from hunting in the hills of the region.
The garden of the palace has completely disappeared: the army of Napoleon has transformed it into a square, leaving us only an empty space. Today the visitors can see the beauty of the garden again, because they have been created flower-beds and evocative paths that go through the park, between flowers and the fountains.
The complex of the Reggia is imposing: approaching from main entrance you admire the main facade, decorated with shells and fruits, with the beautiful Fountain of the Deer. In the interior there are statues and paintings, realized by important artists; these rooms are places where the visitor feels to be in a magical atmosphere.
