Aprica
|
Aprica is a small town located on the homonymous pass, between Val Camonica and Valtellina, to approximately 1200 meters above sea level.
Towards the end of 19th century in the town started to develop the touristic activity that is nowadays the main economic resource of the area. Actually Aprica has always had, since centuries, a natural vocation to hospitality, because it was an obliged point of passage through the Alps and because of the splendid geography of the place. The climate is the typical alpine one, warm but windy in summer, relatively cold in winter. The name Aprica comes from Latin and means sunny: this because the town is located on the southern side of the mountain, and therefore the climate is never too cold.
Aprica, with its 50 km of ski tracks, represents one of the most important ski areas of Valtellina. Aprica has four different ski areas, well connected one to each other: Campetti, Baradello, Palabione and Magnolta. During the winter there is also the possibility of ice-skating, and obviously, of practising all the winter sports, snowboard, ski, telemark, climbing on ice…
During the summer period it is possible to practice trekking on more than 50 different routes; moreover in Aprica there are a tennis court, an indoor swimming pool, a golf course, a football field. It is also possible to do climbing, fishing, parachuting, canyoning, bird-watching. The town is very appreciated also for relax and entertainment: here in fact there are many wellness centers, pubs and discos, and, above all during the winter season, many cultural events and entertainments for children are organized.
